Meet Gabi
Welcome. I’m Gabi Taweel (she/her), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) originally from Northern Virginia and now based in San Diego, California. I specialize in working with young adults navigating trauma, anxiety, addiction, identity exploration, relationship challenges, and major life transitions.
My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, collaborative, and relational. I believe meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, authenticity, and mutual respect. Therapy is not about judgment or perfection; it is about creating space to better understand yourself, process difficult experiences, and develop healthier ways of coping.
As someone who understands the complexity of adulthood in our 20s and 30s, I recognize how challenging it can be to navigate periods of uncertainty, change, grief, burnout, loneliness, or self-doubt. Sometimes we seek stability among life’s chaos, while other times we seek excitement among life’s mundanity. My role is to help you identify your needs, better understand your patterns, and move toward a life that feels more aligned and fulfilling.
I draw from several evidence-based therapeutic modalities and tailor treatment to each individual’s unique experiences, goals, and strengths. My clinical work is informed by approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-focused interventions, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness-based techniques, and attachment-oriented work. I have experience supporting clients with complex trauma, substance use concerns, family and relationship difficulties, emotional regulation challenges, and the lasting impact of painful or invalidating life experiences.
Above all, I strive to provide a warm, nonjudgmental environment where you can speak openly, explore honestly, and feel supported through both stagnant and transitional periods of life.
In addition to therapy, I also provide psychological evaluations for immigration cases, including asylum, hardship waivers, VAWA, U-Visas, and T-Visas. I work closely with clients and immigration attorneys to complete thorough, trauma-informed evaluations that document the emotional and psychological impact of clients’ experiences. I understand that sharing these experiences can feel vulnerable, and I strive to create a supportive, respectful environment throughout the process.
I currently provide support to residents of California, Virginia, DC, Washington State, Michigan, and Arizona. If you are interested in working together, I would be honored to connect with you.
